Synopsis
Judgment on the writings of the Greek novelist and philosopher, Nikos Kazantzakis, has been firmly divided between fervent acclamation and virulent disdain.
While many regard him as a significant religious writer, others read him as a proponent for a rich humanism. Central to an interpretation of his thought is the short but major volume, Askitiki, which has been translated into English Under the title Saviors of God.
In this lecture, Howard F Dossor examines this controversial title and draws from it a point of view that celebrates life and outlines a means by which the individual can best co-operate with its vitality.

Bio
Howard F Dossor came out of the ministry of the Congregational Churches to enter the educational sector. He taught in schools and at the La Trobe University Language Centre before moving into university administration, subsequently being appointed foundation Registrar and University Secretary of Victoria University.
His long-term interest in literature has found expression in his seminal study of the English novelist and philosopher, Colin Wilson, published in the United Kingdom in 1990. A collection of his essays on Nikos Kazantzakis, in whom he has had a long-standing interest, will become available through amazon.com within a matter of weeks.
