Thousands attend the Delphi Bank 24th Greek Film Festival

Over the course of 11 days, the Delphi Bank 24th Greek Film Festival screened 16 feature films, 4 documentaries, 8 Australian and 7 international short films along with 15 student films. During this short window, the Festival travelled to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Canberra with admissions of over 11,000 recorded across all five cities.

LIVE AT THE GREEK: ANAGENNISI

Our final Live at The Greek show for 2017 is set to be a big one, so be sure to grab the parea and book a table to celebrate a successful year of live music. Hitting the Live at The Greek stage for the first time on Friday 17 November, Melbourne's Anagennisi will perform a variety of palia laika and dimotika. Featuring John Georgakopoulos (vocals, bouzouki, clarinet), Dimitrios Kakaletris (vocals, guitar), Jim Soubalov (accordion), Nick Tzitzivakos (bass guitar) and David Dimkopoulos (percussion).

HALKINA

Halkina Pathaisia are a brass band from Siatista, Kozani, in Greece's Western Macedonia. Formed in 2005, they have trained and performed with the Philharmonic Band of Siatista. Featuring Andrew Momtsio (trumpet), Nikos Serefa (clarinet), Makis Tsapaliana (saxophone, traditional drums), Mark Tzioukalia (daouli, drums), Tilemahos Halamoutis (guitar, trombone). Their passion for the traditional Halkina sound unites these musicians who are performing in Australia for the first time.

A LOVE LETTER TO CRETE: XAMOU

A love letter to Crete, Clio Fanouraki's XAMOU is a coming-of-middle-age story starring Georges Corraface as Johnny, a career high-fllyer forced to return to the land in the face of the economic crisis. Boasts breathtaking cinematography of the sun-soaked Cretan terrain. Special guests for the evening include musicians from Crete Manolis Alexakis & Giorgos Rerakis who will perform with local musician Tony Iliou.

Presented together with the Pancretan Association of Melbourne.
