The Delphi Bank 24th Greek Film Festival opens nationally next week with a prolific program of contemporary Greek cinema.

Our beloved Athens is a city with many faces and rich history. This year's program features films which depict the capital in vastly different moods and eras.

We also celebrate Greek talent on the world stage with Yorgos Lanthimos' highly-anticipated second English language feature.

ATHENS THEN: MYTHOPATHY

Celebrated filmmaker Tassos Boulmetis (A Touch of Spice) returns from a 12-year hiatus with MYTHOPATHY, a long-awaited nostalgia piece that revisits the picturesque yet politically turbulent Athens of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Funny, wistful and somewhat autobiographical, Mythopathy shows that – even when the world changes – love, heartbreak and politics still stay the same.

ATHENS NOW: AMERIKA SQUARE

Greece's contender for the Best Foreign Language Oscar, Yannis Sakaridis' AMERIKA SQUARE is a stark portrait of modern Athens during the biggest refugee and displacement crisis of our time. A bitter Greek nationalist (the irrepressible Makis Papadimitriou) collides with refugees seeking safe passage into Europe as 3 stories intersect with fateful consequences.
