Panathinaikos B.C. Visits the Greek Centre
Players and officials from Panathinaikos B.C. visited the Greek Centre ahead of their Melbourne match against KK Partizan. Welcomed by GCM President Bill Papastergiadis OAM, the delegation toured the Centre and celebrated the strong cultural and sporting ties between Greece and Melbourne’s Greek community. Sissy
An exhibition curated by Dr. Nikos Pantazopoulos Launching 15 October (5pm-7pm) at the Greek Community of Melbourne, SISSY explores the entanglements of patriotism, nationalism, patriarchy, and how identity is shaped, resisted, and misrecognised through culture, history, and place. GCM and NUGAS Join Forces to Empower Greek Youth
The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) and NUGAS have agreed to form a joint youth subcommittee aimed at strengthening youth engagement within the Greek community. The initiative follows the recent Youth Forum and seeks to foster collaboration, mentorship, and greater participation in cultural and educational programs. Both organisations expressed enthusiasm for future joint projects that will empower young Greek Australians to take active roles in community life. Children's week 2025
Everyone should know about children’s rights. Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the rights, talents and achievements of children. This year’s theme, “Everyone should know about children’s rights”, is based on Article 42 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which highlights the importance of making children’s rights widely known. Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria schools will be celebrating with a day of fun and engaging activities at The Greek Centre on Saturday 18 October 2025. GCM Students Take Part in Hellenic Museum Pilot Workshop
Year 9–11 students from the Greek Community of Melbourne School (City Campus) participated in a pilot educational workshop at the Hellenic Museum titled “It’s All Greek to Me”. The program helps VCE students develop skills in analysing historical sources and writing in Modern Greek. The engaging session combined history, language, and hands-on learning, marking the start of a promising collaboration between the GCM Schools and the Hellenic Museum.
