UPDATE ON CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW

The GCM commenced a process of constitutional review which has included a call for submissions. So as to ensure an adequate period for a response by members, the time period to provide submissions was extended a number of times until late last year. As part of this constitutional process, as advised at the AGM, we have retained lawyers to provide a number of drafts of the constitution for consideration by the Board of management of the GCM. We retained the lawyers some months ago. We are waiting on the lawyers to provide these drafts.

The Board of Management is committed to the following process in regards to constitutional change
The timeline moving forward will include:
- Receipt of the renewed constitution from legal counsel
- Board of management review of the drafts provided by the Lawyers
- The provision of the drafts of the constitution to members
- A meeting of members to consider and explain the drafts of the constitution
- Motion at a SGM of members to consider adopting changes to the constitution

We envisage that this process will run over the coming months.

GREEK PARLIAMENTARIANS VISIT THE GREEK CENTRE

The GCM welcomed Greek Parliamentarians at a reception held on April 12th in the Greek Centre. The delegation, which included former Deputy Minister Constantinos Vlassis MP and other members from the Hellenic Parliament's Inter-Parliamentary Committee for Greeks Abroad, joined Greek diplomats, community leaders and distinguished guests for an evening of cultural and diplomatic exchange, coinciding with the Greek National Day march.

THE COSMOS IN COSMOPOLITANISM – NIKOS PAPASTERGIADIS’ NEW BOOK LAUNCHED

On Wednesday 24 April at an event at the Greek Centre, Prof Nikos Papastergiadis launched his latest book "The Cosmos in Cosmopolitanism". Hosted by Prof Paul Carter, the well-attended event teased the books’ content as an insightful exploration of cosmopolitanism’s relevance in today’s globalized world.
