Green light for a Melbourne "Enterprise Greece' office

The Greek Community of Melbourne and managers of Australia's large investment funds welcomed the announcement by the Economy and Development Minister of Greece, Dimitris Papadimitriou, that Enterprise Greece will open a Melbourne office - its first outside Greece - to pursue investments from Australia.

Parthenon frieze replica unveilled at the Greek Centre

The Hon Daniel Andrews MP, Premier of Victoria joined Mr Bill Papastergiadis, GCM President, and other leading political and community figures on Sunday 26 November 2017, to unveil a life-size replica of the Parthenon Marble frieze in central Melbourne.

Lonsdale Street Greek Festival 2018

The 2018 Lonsdale Street Greek Festival is set to be the largest yet, with an expanded design which sees the event take over the historic Greek heart of Lonsdale Street from Swanston Street up to Exhibition Street. 

Free entertainment will run across three stages, and will include international and local bands, dancing, cooking demonstrations and competitions. This year’s main act, Giannis Haroulis, hails from Crete and has in recent times become one of the most successful artists in Greece.

GCM awards students who excelled in their VCE exams

More than two hundred people attended our Christmas Party at the Greek Centre on Thursday evening. Presentations of the annual VCE Awards were made to students who had excelled in Greek and Ancient Greek. President Bill Papastergiadis welcomed the audience and congratulated all students who were studying VCE. He also thanked the teaching staff for their contribution. Vice President and Education Convenor, Theo Markos, thanked the students and teachers  for their efforts during the year. Greek Consul Georgia Botsios congratulated the students for their performance. Also the principal of the GCM Language Schools, Manos Tzimpragos, congratulated the students for their success and all the teachers for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
