THE GCM RESPONDS TO THE FIRES IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF ATHENS

Whilst the devastation of the firestorm that hit the outskirts of Athens has left many with a deep sense of loss, the Greek community in Victoria is actively seeking to arrange a coordinated and focused relief campaign.

The GCM has also organised meetings with the Federal Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, Alan Tudge and the Victorian Minister for Multiculturalism, Robin Scott in the coming days.

FREE SCREENING: Green Project’s SUDAMERICA

A photographic essay of Australia’s Indigenous peoples and their relationship with the environment. The Award Winning Green Project team head by Dr Yiannis Tzortsis is coming to Australia to complete the next instalment of its award winning documentation. Under the auspices of the Hellenic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the team from Greece will traverse Australia photographing and recording indigenous communities trying to learn from their understanding of their environment and in particular what sustainable practices they deploy. To launch the event the Greek Community of Melbourne will screen a documentary from the team’s last project in South America with Dr Tzortsis and his team on hand to take questions and explain what it is that their trek plans to achieve.
