2019 GREEK WRITERS FESTIVAL: A MULTICULTURAL, MULTI DISCIPLINED TREAT!

Late in May and across early June Greek Australian and writers with a variety fo cultural backgrounds gathered at the Greek Centre to take part in the Greek Community of Melbourne‘s “2019 Greek Writers Festival”. From 31 May to 8 June, over 30 sessions including panel discussions, spoken word performances and workshops featuring distinguished writers, exceeded all expectations. “I am very pleased both by the program of the Festival, as well as by the participation of important writers and academics not only of Greek background but also from other nationalities,” said President Mr Bill Papastergiadis.

The GCM continues its successful Children's School Holiday Program during the June/July school break. Children aged 4-11 years old and regardless of their Greek Language skill, are invited to participate in the popular program which runs from 2 July to 10 July.

Agapi and Friends are back  to perform a selection of nostalgic and much loved Greek classics from the 40’s, 50’s 60’s and 70’s. Featuring Agapi (vocals), Dean Georgalas (bouzouki), Nick Baltas (guitar) & John Spantsios (percussion and vocals), the group have hand-picked some of their favorite songs from that era, paying tribute to legendary artists such as Haris Alexiou, Marinella, and Glykeria to name a few. Their passion for performing is infectious and their rapport with one another and their audience shines through, ensuring that you’ll be singing (and dancing) along from the first song through to the very last. A memorable night not to be missed.
