A handful of tickets remain for the monumental presentation of Mikis Theodorakis’ AXION ESTI.  Utilising the poetry of Nobel laureate poet Odysseas Elytis, acclaimed singer Dimitris Basis accompanied by a George Ellis conducted orchestra, 90 member choir, chanter George Karantonis, and narrator Tony Nikolakopoulos combine to present this special event.

GREEK TOURISM OFFICE CLOSER TO OPENING

The (GCM) welcomed the recent announcement by the Ministry of Tourism regarding the immediate operation of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) office at the Greek Centre in Melbourne. Specifically, on 21 May, the GNTO announced the hiring to fill the position of Head of the GNTO office in Australia, based in Melbourne.

Poetry and art are at the centre of the  upcoming launch of a bilingual book by Cretan-born Poli Tataraki (Sansey) and Michael Winters that explores the struggles of the ANZACS and the Cretan people during the Nazi occupation of the 1940’s which highlights that despite the horrors faced, the legendary Cretan philoxenia shines through. Books and art will be available for sale at the venues.
