GCM's GREECE 2021 BICENTENARY CELEBRATIONS

In 2021, the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) will be presenting a multifaceted program of events to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the commencement of the Greek War of Independence and celebrate the Bicentenary of the Modern Greek State. It will be part of a rich program of events being planned around the world.

Το 2021 γιορτάζουμε την 200η επέτειο από την επανάσταση του 1821 και την ίδρυση του Ελληνικού Κράτους. Στο πλαίσιο των εορτασμών που προγραμματίζονται σε όλον τον κόσμο, η Ελληνική Κοινότητα Μελβούρνης (ΕΚΜ) προετοιμάζει ένα λεπτομερές και πολύπλευρο πρόγραμμα εκδηλώσεων.

CALL FOR ANNUAL AGE PENSION INCREASE

The Greek Community of Melbourne has called on the Federal Government to increase pensions, on the occasion of the recent announcement of the Minister of Social Services that Australian retirees will not receive an automatic CPI increase this year, on the grounds that inflation has fallen.

Έκκληση για αύξηση των συντάξεων έκανε η Ελληνική Κοινότητα Μελβούρνης με επιστολή της προς την Ομοσπονδιακή Κυβέρνηση, με αφορμή την πρόσφατη ανακοίνωση του Υπουργείου Κοινωνικών Υπηρεσιών ότι οι συνταξιούχοι της Αυστραλίας δεν θα λάβουν αυτόματη τιμαριθμική αύξηση φέτος, με το αιτιολογικό ότι ο πληθωρισμός έχει υποχωρήσει.

NEW ONLINE PROGRAM - GREEK FOR LATE BEGINNERS

A new online program for late beginners is being offered by the GCM since mid-July. It is aimed at students aged 10-18 who wish to start learning Greek at a beginner’s level. This course provides students with the opportunity to develop their communication skills in Modern Greek and their knowledge and understanding of the Greek language and culture. Classes will be limited to 10 students. No prior knowledge of Greek is required. New courses are commencing in early October. For more information and to enrol, click on greekcommunity.com.au/glb

Ένα νέο πρόγραμμα που προσφέρεται αποκλειστικά μέσω διαδικτύου ξεκίνησε στα μέσα Ιουλίου η Κοινότητά μας. Το πρόγραμμα απευθύνεται σε μαθητές ηλικίας 10 -18 ετών που ξεκινούν να μαθαίνουν ελληνικά για πρώτη φορά. Στόχος του προγράμματος είναι η ανάπτυξη των επικοινωνιακών και διαπολιτισμικών δεξιοτήτων των μαθητών στα ελληνικά. Καινούργια τμήματα θα ξεκινήσουν αρχές Οκτωβρίου. Tα τμήματα θα είναι ολιγομελή (μέχρι 10 άτομα).
