AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT'S RESPONSE TO TURKISH PROVOCATIONS IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN

The building tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean are of growing concern.  Seeking the Australian Government’s position on the matter, the GCM President Bill Papastergiadis wrote to the Australian Government seeking an update.   The Government’s response follows in the link below.

NEW ONLINE PROGRAM - GREEK FOR LATE BEGINNERS

A new online program for late beginners is being offered by the GCM since mid-July. It is aimed at students aged 10-18 who wish to start learning Greek at a beginner’s level. This course provides students with the opportunity to develop their communication skills in Modern Greek and their knowledge and understanding of the Greek language and culture. Classes will be limited to 10 students. No prior knowledge of Greek is required. New courses are commencing in early October. For more information and to enrol, click on greekcommunity.com.au/glb

Ένα νέο πρόγραμμα που προσφέρεται αποκλειστικά μέσω διαδικτύου ξεκίνησε στα μέσα Ιουλίου η Κοινότητά μας. Το πρόγραμμα απευθύνεται σε μαθητές ηλικίας 10 -18 ετών που ξεκινούν να μαθαίνουν ελληνικά για πρώτη φορά. Στόχος του προγράμματος είναι η ανάπτυξη των επικοινωνιακών και διαπολιτισμικών δεξιοτήτων των μαθητών στα ελληνικά. Καινούργια τμήματα θα ξεκινήσουν αρχές Οκτωβρίου. Tα τμήματα θα είναι ολιγομελή (μέχρι 10 άτομα).

The GCM has been in contact with Professor Sotirios Tsiodras, the well-known infectious disease specialist, who is heading the battle against Covid 19 in Greece. We were hoping for him to deliver a lecture as part of our Thursday night Greek History and Culture Seminars series on how Greece is coping with COVID.

The GCM offers a free HELPLINE service from its HQ with the aim of directing community members but in particular Greek citizens accordingly during the CODIV-19 crisis.
