OPENING NIGHT GALA FEATURE - 1968

Tassos Boulmetis' critically acclaimed film, 1968 makes its Australian debut at this year's Delphi Bank 26th Greek Film Festival. Based on the true story about the epic basketball game between under dogs AEK and firm favourites Slavia of Prague, don't miss your chance to see how that fateful night altered the course of Greek history! 

Along with the stories of fictional characters, interwoven in the film is the original footage from 1968 European final, interviews/commentary from the players of both teams as well as the personal stories of the people who were involved in this legendary sporting achievement. Highlighted in the film are the historic events that led to the epic win including the formation of AEK in 1924 by Greek refugees from Constantinople.

Cypriot Director Peter Charalambous’ The Bullet Within is a touching true story set in present-day (divided) Cyprus, about 35 year old Andreas who buries his 27 year old father the day before his wedding.

Award-winning, Director Tonia Mishiali makes her feature directorial debut with Pause, about a woman trapped in the misery of an oppressive marriage, who finds refuge in a fantasy world of vindictive violence.
