Abstract

Greeks have featured as part of Sydney’s history since the early period of European settlement, and have since played dynamic, prolific and tumultuous roles in the life of the city. Now one-quarter into the 21st century, Sydney’s Greek community is in the midst of another historic shift, across generational, political and social lines. George Mpliokas explores the current ‘state of play’ into some of the enduring and emerging community dynamics that continue to haunt, bless and define the Greeks of Sydney.
