Anagennisi is Melbourne’s beloved Greek band, dedicated to reviving the timeless classics of Greece’s golden Laiko era. For 20 years, Anagennisi has brought the soul of Greek music to life in Australia, bridging generations with the rich sounds that embody the heart, passion, and storytelling of Greece.
Founded by musicians deeply connected to their Greek heritage, Anagennisi has been a staple in Melbourne’s Greek community, bringing together lovers of traditional Greek music, from traditional “Dimotika”, classic pop music “Laiko” from the 60s, 70s & 80s, to modern hits with a retro charm. Their performances are a nostalgic journey, honouring legends like Stelios Kazantzidis, Stratos Dionisiou, Vassilis Tsitsanis and Manolis Hiotis, while giving the classics a vibrant, contemporary energy. They’re not just a band; they’re a living tribute to a cultural legacy, ensuring that the beauty and emotion of the “Greek Classics” continue to resonate for future generations.
