The Greek Centre is set to become a Friday night favourite again with the return of LIVE AT THE GREEK, a fortnightly music program showcasing Melbourne's best Greek musicians.

LIVE AT THE GREEK: LAVANT GARDE
The 2017 series will launch on Friday 16 June with Lavant Garde, playing classic Greek laika, entexna and rebetika. Lavant Garde features Evangelia Baxa (vocals), Jacob Papadopoulos (bouzouki, tzoura), Chris Kimon (guitar) and Irene Kostetsou (keyboard).

LIVE AT THE GREEK: EPIROTIKO ENSEMBLE
Friday 30 June will see the return of the Epirotiko Ensemble, taking listeners on a 'taxidi' through the region, playing a vast blend of traditional songs about history, love and hardship, together with classic dance pieces.

LIVE AT THE GREEK: REBETIKA REVEALED
Hosted by Anthea Sidiropoulos (vocals), Rebetika Revealed will be a night of soul-revealing Greek urban blues, a fusion of rebetika, smyrneika and laika.
Guest musicians include: Achilles Yiangoulli (vocals, bouzouki, tzoura, bagalma, dubeleki), Jacob Papadopoulos (bouzouki, tzoura), Nikos Koutsaliotis (vocals, bouzouki), Nicholas Baltas (guitar), Agapi Gioftsidis (vocals) and Theano Milides (violin), together with special guest, ethnomusicologist Demeter Tsounis (Adelaide).
