Strong Crowd and Community Spirit Launch the 4th Annual Greek Community Cup

A strong crowd kicked off the 4th annual Greek Community Cup over the weekend, with great energy on and off the pitch at Partridge Street Reserve. With upgraded facilities and competitive matches already underway, the tournament continues until 7 December — join us at the next games.

 
 

First Online Summer School for Diaspora Greek Teachers

For the first time in Australia, an intensive online summer school is being offered for educators teaching Greek as a second or foreign language. Running 12–22 January 2026, the program supports teachers across the diaspora to strengthen their skills and classroom practice.

Delivered by the University of Western Macedonia, with academic leads in Sydney and Melbourne, the program is designed to uplift educators who keep the Greek language and culture thriving in our communities.

Artist Tina Stefanou drew a full house at the 2025 John Berger Memorial Lecture hosted by the Greek Community of Melbourne. Her performance, Ways of Singing, reimagined Berger’s classic through an immersive experience of voice, chorus and listening — and finished to a standing ovation.

 
 

Team Greece's Brave Semi-Final Run Ends in Penalties

Team Greece’s All Nations Cup journey ended in a penalty shoot-out after a powerful comeback from 2–0 down to a 2–2 finish at full time. A strong, determined performance to the very end.

 
 

Over 7,000 Patrons Attend 2025 Greek Film Festival

The 2025 Greek Film Festival welcomed over 7,000 patrons across its main program and encore screenings, a testament to the passion for Greek cinema in our community. With all sessions now concluded, we thank everyone who joined us in celebrating this 30-year milestone.

 
 

50% Increase in Number of People That Sat and Secured the Certificate of Attainment in Greek

This year saw a 50% jump in candidates completing the Certificate of Attainment in Greek, with 63 people achieving certification. A powerful sign of our community’s dedication to Greek language and culture.
