Σύνοψη

Τα καραμανλίδικα κείμενα (κείμενα στην τουρκική γλώσσα γραμμένη με ελληνικούς χαρακτήρες) απευθύνονταν σε τουρκόφωνους ορθοδόξους κατοίκους της Μ. Ασίας αλλά και τους εγκατεστημένους στα αστικά κέντρα. Η έντυπη καραμανλίδικη γραμματεία καλύπτει  την περίοδο αρχές του 18ου έως αρχές του 20ού αιώνα. Το καραμανλίδικο έντυπο, ως πολιτιστικό προϊόν της οθωμανικής περιόδου, επηρεάζεται από τις πολιτικές εξελίξεις στην οθωμανική κοινωνία όπως οι Μεταρρυθμίσεις/Τανζιμάτ, το ρεύμα εξευρωπαϊσμού και εκκοσμίκευσης και η εκπαιδευτική – προσηλυτιστική δράση Αμερικανών και Άγγλων μισιοναρίων/αποστολών. Στις απαρχές της η καραμανλίδικη βιβλιοπαραγωγή αρχικά έχει ως στόχο να καταστήσει προσβάσιμα στους τουρκόφωνους τα λειτουργικά κείμενα και αποβλέπει στη θρησκευτική και ηθική διαπαιδαγώγησή τους αλλά σταδιακά πλάι στο θρησκευτικό εμφανίζεται και το κοσμικό βιβλίο (λεξικά, χρηστικά βιβλία, πρακτιτοί οδηγοί  κ.λπ.)  Το δεύτερο μισό του 19ου αι. η παραγωγή κοσμικών βιβλίων ενισχύεται κυρίως με τις εκδόσεις λογοτεχνικών έργων και εκλαϊκευτικών βιβλίων που αφορούν την καθημερινή ζωή και θέματα γενικής παιδείας. Επίσης κυκλοφορούν στα καραμανλίδικα αρμενοπερσικά λαϊκά έπη, και στα τέλη του 19ου αι. λόγια θρησκευτικά βιβλία και πρωτόττυπες μελέτες γραμμένες από λόγιους Καππαδόκες. Η ομιλία αυτή επιχειρεί να παρουσιάσει τα κύρια χαρακτηριστικά των διαφορετικών περιόδων της καραμανλίδικης βιβλιοπαραγωγής, τους κύριους εκδότες και τυπογραφεία/τυπογραφικά κέντρα καθώς καιτ ην αλληλεπίδραση με άλλες γραμματείες/εκδόσεις στην Οθωμανική κοινωνία.

The Literature of the Karamanlides - Publishers and Readership

Karamanlidika literature (texts written in turkish language with greek characters/alphabet) was directed towards the turcophone orthodox population of Asia Minor. The printed karamanlidika literature covers a period from the beginnings of the 18th until the beginnings of the 20th century. The karamanlidika prints, being a cultural product of the Ottoman period, were affected by the political developments in the Ottoman society such as the Tanzimat Reforms, the Europeanisation and secularisation movements, as well as the educational-proselytising missionary activities of  American and British missions. In the beginning the karamanlidika literature focused on the religious and moral education of the turcophone orthodox Christians but gradually we see the appearance of secular works (dictionaries, practical guides etc). Especially in the second half of the 19th century the number of secular books increase with the publications of literature, mainly translations of European romance, and popular books relating to general education or everyday life. Furthermore, at the end of the 19th century Armenian-Persian popular epic poems were published, as were studies of local Asia Minor history written by scholars of Cappadocian origin. This talk presents the characteristics of the different periods of karamanlidika production, the main publishers and printing houses as well as their interaction with other literatures within the Ottoman society.

Η Αχλάδη Ευαγγελία είναι Υπεύθυνη της Βιβλιοθήκης και του Πολιτιστικού Κέντρου της Ελλάδας στην Κων/πολη (Σισμανόγλειο Μέγαρο-Γενικό Προξενείο της Ελλάδας στην Κων/πολη). Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εντοπίζονται στην Οθωμανική ιστορία του 20ου αιώνα (κοινωνική και εκπαιδευτική ιστορία των ελληνορθόδοξων κοινοτήτων), καραμανλίδικη γραμματεία, μικρασιατικές διαλέκτους και στη γλωσσική επαφή. Since 2012 Achladi Evangelia is the Library and Culture Coordinator of the Cultural Center of Greece in Istanbul (Sismanogleio Megaro-General Consulate of Greece in Istanbul). Her research interests lie in Ottoman history of 20th century (social and educational history of the Greek orthodox communities), karamanlidika literature, Asia Minor dialects as well as in language-contact issues.
