PARTY GREEK-STYLE THIS WEEKEND

The 30th Lonsdale St Greek Festival takes over the heart of Melbourne this weekend! Two days of Greek culture, food and entertainment are set to take over the city's historic Greek Precinct this Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February.

Celebrating 30 years in 2017, the Festival will feature 3 stages of free entertainment, children’s rides and activities, and over 60 food, drink and craft stalls.

WATCH

Cheer on the longest running Greek dance-a-thon in the world! The Festival's annual Zorba 'Til You Drop competition is the ultimate test of endurance as contestants dance the traditional Greek 'Hasaposerviko' dance (made famous by Anthony Quinn) non-stop for a chance to win a return trip to Greece.

LISTEN

One of three performance stages positioned from Russell through to Swanston Street, the AA Holdings Stage will host the Festival's open mic singing competition. Magic Mic is set to uncover some of Melbourne's newest voices, as entrants belt out a song in Greek or by a Greek composer. Other highlights on the stage include: Opa-Cize (Greek dance meets fitness), a Greek Island dance party by Beautiful People Events featuring guest DJ SOTIRISTAV and Latin-Greek rock with Mapacho.

RELAX

The pop-up Festival Bar is the place to relax and soak up the Festival atmosphere while sipping on a range of Greek beverages. The Akropolis Ouzeri has your spirits covered, while the Coopers Bar serves chilled beers including Greek favourites Mythos and Fix.

EVANGELISMOS REINSTATEMENT PROJECT

Come and visit the Evangelismos Church stall near the corner of Lonsdale and Russell Street and support the reinstatement of this historic building that was significantly damaged by fire in May 2016.

A significant fundraising campaign has begun to help with the restoration of the building. Whilst the insurance claim will cover part of the reinstatement costs, further funds are required to repair or replace the fittings and fixtures, including the iconography. The project will also include upgrades to the ageing facilities of the church.

SHOW US YOUR BIKE!

You can access the Festival a number of ways, but if you cycle to the Festival and we'll shout you a coffee. Come past the Accreditation Tent at the corner of Russell & Lonsdale Streets and we'll give you a voucher to use at the Festival.
