The Delphi Bank 26th Greek Film Festival returns to Palace Cinemas with an injection of Greek culture, history and stories for twelve days, from 9 to 20 October. This year's lineup will include 15 acclaimed and award-winning features, 3 fascinating documentaries and some interesting shorts. “We are proud to offer a variety of entertaining and informative films from some of the most gifted Greek storytellers in the film industry, with something on offer for everyone” said Festival Co-Chairs Jim Bossinakis and Leonidas Vlahakis. “We hope you can join us for another highly anticipated and memorable festival- definitely one of the highlights of Melbourne’s Greek social calendar.”
 

Το Delphi Bank 26ο Φεστιβάλ Ελληνικού Κινηματογράφου επιστρέφει στις αίθουσες του Palace Cinema με μια δόση ελληνικού πολιτισμού, και ιστορίας για δώδεκα ημέρες, από τις 9 έως τις 20 Οκτωβρίου. Το φετινό πρόγραμμα θα περιλαμβάνει 15 αναγνωρισμένες και βραβευμένες ταινίες, 3 συναρπαστικά ντοκιμαντέρ και μερικές ενδιαφέρουσες ταινίες μικρού μήκους.

It’s time to build a bridge between Greece and Australia

Many factors have come to fruition, paving the way for the stronger involvement of the Greek diaspora in shaping the country of their ancestors and strengthening the bonds between Greece and Australia on many levels in the years to come. In a very interesting article in Neos Kosmos newspaper, President Bill Papastergiadis, points to ways in which Greece is prepared to open the door to Greek Australians.

The GCM honours the work of Andrew Liveris with the The Hellenic Initiative

The Greek Community of Melbourne honoured the work of Andrew Liveris with The Hellenic Initiative (THI) in the presence of Delphi Bank and other key Australian fund managers and community leaders. The Consul General was also in attendance. The award was to recognise Andrews work in humanitarian and entrepreneurial work for Greece. THI has raised over $30m in just a few short years.

Δημήτρη Μιχαλόπουλου και άλλων βασικών διαχειριστών επενδυτικών ταμείων της Αυστραλίας και παροικιακών παραγόντων. 

26th Delphi Bank Greek Film Festival Opening Night film

From award winning and acclaimed Greek Director Tassos Boulmetis (A Touch of Spice, Mythopathy), the heartwarming docudrama "1968" about the epic basketball game between A.E.K., Athens and Slavia of Prague (Czechoslovakia) will open the Greek Film Festival.

Two special screening options are on offer; The Opening Night Gala at The Astor Theatre followed by an After party including live entertainment ($59) and the Opening Night celebration at Palace Cinema Como which will include drinks and snack pack upon arrival ($39).

Cypriot director Peter Charalambous’ The Bullet Within is a touching true story set in present-day (divided) Cyprus, about 35 year old Andreas who buries his 27 year old father the day before his wedding. Award-winning, director Tonia Mishiali makes her feature directorial debut with Pause, about a woman trapped in the misery of an oppressive marriage, who finds refuge in a fantasy world of vindictive violence. In 2020, the 33rd Lonsdale Street Greek Festival, Melbourne’s largest celebration of Greek culture, arts, food and entertainment will be held on Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1st March from Swanston Street through to Exhibition Street. Australia’s longest-running Greek festival will return featuring some of our most talented performers, musicians, dancers, chefs, cooks and competitors for a weekend of Greek-flavoured fun!
