A series of lectures and presentations will be presented to celebrate our 120th anniversary. These include:

Unveiling of the Panathenaic Replica at the Greek Centre

The unveiling of the replica of part of the Panathenaic Frieze from the Parthenon, will take place at the front of the Greek Centre, at midday on Sunday 26 November.

The event will feature leading Greek Australian political figures and the visiting Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, Mr Katrougalos.

A love letter to Crete, Clio Fanouraki's XAMOU is a coming-of-middle-age story starring Georges Corraface as Johnny, a career high-fllyer forced to return to the land in the face of the economic crisis. Boasts breathtaking cinematography of the sun-soaked Cretan terrain. Special guests for the evening include musicians from Crete Manolis Alexakis & Giorgos Rerakis who will perform with local musician Tony Iliou.

Hitting the Live at The Greek stage for the first time, Melbourne's Anagennisi will perform a variety of palia laika and dimotika. Featuring John Georgakopoulos (vocals, bouzouki, clarinet), Dimitrios Kakaletris (vocals, guitar), Jim Soubalov (accordion), Nick Tzitzivakos (bass guitar) and David Dimkopoulos (percussion).

The Polytechnic students uprising

The Polytechnic Commemorative Committee will honour the 44th anniversary of the Athens Polytechnic students heroic uprising against the junta of the colonels, with a special event at the Greek Centre, on Sunday 19 November.The program includes a brief talk by Julia Charpantidou and Elias Diakolamprianos, live Greek music with Christo Ioannidis, George Spyrou and Vassilis Michalakis who will sing songs of Nikos Xylouris and the screening of a documentary depicting the events as they happened in 1973.
