Get ready to laugh! Melbourne's International Comedy Festival is back at the Greek Centre from March 29th to April 23rd with a stellar international program.  

GREEK NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

National Day  | 18-19 Mar | Lakeside Stadium
The GCM will be well represented at this year's National Day festivities. The GCM will be represented by a student honour guard at the Shrine commemoration on Sat 18 March with the whole student body and Alphington Grammar talking part in the parade which this year will be held at the  Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park on Sunday 19 March.

SEMINAR | DISCOVERING GREEK-AUSTRALIAN DIASPORA IN POST-WAR SYDNEY

Professor George Kouvaros from the University of New South Wales will present a lecture entitled "Diasporic Visibility in Sydney’s Post-War Greek Neighbourhoods" at the Greek Centre on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023, at 7:00 pm. The seminar will be conducted in English and is part of the Greek History and Culture Seminars offered by the Greek Community of Melbourne.

THE FEAST DAY OF THE HOLY CHURCH OF THE ANNUNCIATION OF OUR LADY

The GCM’s historic “Evangelismos” church, (The Annunciation of Our Lady), celebrates its feast day and the Greek National Day on Sat 25 March. BOOK LAUNCH: THE HISTORY OF THE GREEK COMMUNITY OF MELBOURNE

The book "The Embodiment of a Distant Homeland: the history of the GOCMV from its founding to 1972" will be launched on 26 March 2023, 3 pm at the Mezzanine Level of the Greek Centre, Melbourne. Collaborating partners are the Hellenic Writers' Association of Australia, Greek-Australian Cultural League, and Heliades - Hellenic Women's Network of Victoria.

GREEK DANCE SEMINAR FOR TEACHERS

The Schools of Language and Culture of the Greek Community of Melbourne are hosting a seminar, which is designed for teachers, dance instructors, and anyone who works with children and are interested in utilising Greek dance and movement for the  development of their students.

CREATIVE DRAMA AND ARTS CENTRE

Aimed to attract children, adolescents and adults who wish to cultivate their theatrical expression, the centre will provide students of a Greek background an avenue to express their feelings, emotions and character via their participation in theatrical experimentation and performances.

GREEK FOR LATE BEGINNERS 10-18yo | ONLINE

An innovative online program for late beginners is being offered by the GCΜ. It is aimed at students aged 10-18 who wish to start learning Greek at a beginner’s level. This course provides students with the opportunity to develop their communication skills in Modern Greek and their knowledge and understanding of the Greek language and culture. Classes will be limited to 10 students. New courses are commencing in early February.
