STH MELBOURNE CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF INAUGURAL GREEK COMMUNITY CUP

The Greek Australian football community in Melbourne has been buzzing with excitement over the past few weeks as the inaugural Greek Community Cup drew to a close. On Saturday, 11 February, Sth Melbourne met Mill Park FC in the final of the pre-season tournament with Sth Melbourne coming out triumphant 2-0.  In the other match on the final weekend, Doncaster Rovers defeated Malvern City.  Federal Minister Andrew Giles was on hand to present the awards in front of hundreds of fans at the Mill Park ground.

GCM WELCOMES ANTIGONI NTRISMPIOTI, GREECE'S GOLDEN ATHLETE

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) Board members were joined by Antigoni Ntrispioti, the first Greek athlete to win double gold in a single athletics event, during her visit to the Greek Centre on Friday 10 February. GCM President Bill Papastergiadis OAM and a Board delegation warmly welcomed Antigoni, taking her on a tour of the Greek Centre.

The Antipodes Festival offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the timeless tradition of Karagiozis. Shadow Theatre performances, featuring iconic characters from the Karagiozis tradition and the local community, will take place in a specially designed pavilion by the GCM's Greek Language Schools

CREATIVE DRAMA AND ARTS CENTRE

Aimed to attract children, adolescents and adults who wish to cultivate their theatrical expression, the centre will provide students of a Greek background an avenue to express their feelings, emotions and character via their participation in theatrical experimentation and performances.

GREEK FOR LATE BEGINNERS 10-18yo | ONLINE

An innovative online program for late beginners is being offered by the GCΜ. It is aimed at students aged 10-18 who wish to start learning Greek at a beginner’s level. This course provides students with the opportunity to develop their communication skills in Modern Greek and their knowledge and understanding of the Greek language and culture. Classes will be limited to 10 students. New courses are commencing in early February.
