ANTIPODES FESTIVAL 2023: A WEEKEND OF CULTURE, MUSIC AND FUN IN THE HEART OF MELBOURNE

The Antipodes Festival returns to Melbourne with a bang, bringing the vibrant energy of Greek culture to Lonsdale Street for a weekend of free street party festivities. On the 25th and 26th of February, the festival will showcase a rich program of local and international performers, children's activities, food and more, offering a unique glimpse into the beauty of Greek culture and celebrating the diversity of Melbourne. And to top it all off, festival-goers will be treated to a free concert by none other than the legendary Greek singer Alkistis Protopsalti.
- During her time in Melbourne, Protopsalti will visit the Alphington Grammar School and engage with the students.

STH MELBOURNE CROWNED CHAMPIONS OF INAUGURAL GREEK COMMUNITY CUP

The Greek Australian football community in Melbourne has been buzzing with excitement over the past few weeks as the inaugural Greek Community Cup drew to a close. On Saturday, 11 February, Sth Melbourne met Mill Park FC in the final of the pre-season tournament with Sth Melbourne coming out triumphant 2-0.  In the other match on the final weekend, Doncaster Rovers defeated Malvern City.  Federal Minister Andrew Giles was on hand to present the awards in front of hundreds of fans at the Mill Park ground.

GCM WELCOMES ANTIGONI NTRISMPIOTI, GREECE'S GOLDEN ATHLETE

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) Board members were joined by Antigoni Ntrispioti, the first Greek athlete to win double gold in a single athletics event, during her visit to the Greek Centre on Friday 10 February. THE GCM’S LANGUAGE & CULTURE SCHOOLS 

The Greek Community of Melbourne Language Schools provide innovative and high standard Greek Language and Culture classes for students from Kinder to VCE. Children learn to speak Greek in a fun and engaging environment, through songs, dance, crafts and creative drama during the early years, as well as more formal methods as they reach appropriate ages.

Join us at ELA and learn Greek in a fun and interactive way! Our program is specially designed for children aged 18 months to 4 years old, providing an environment where they can communicate in Greek, socialize with other children, and engage in a range of stimulating activities. At ELA, we believe that play is an integral part of childhood and that learning should be a joyful experience.

GREEK FOR LATE BEGINNERS 10-18yo | ONLINE

An innovative online program for late beginners is being offered by the GCΜ. It is aimed at students aged 10-18 who wish to start learning Greek at a beginner’s level. This course provides students with the opportunity to develop their communication skills in Modern Greek and their knowledge and understanding of the Greek language and culture. Classes will be limited to 10 students. New courses are commencing in early February.
