The Greek Film Festival opens with Eftihia

The 2022 Greek Film Festival presented by Bendigo Bank will return to Australian screens on Thursday 13 October with the acclaimed feature ‘Eftihia’, showing at the Astor Theatre and Palace Cinema Como.

Eftihia tells the story of the life of Greece’s greatest female lyricist, Eftihia Papagiannopoulou. Born in Smyrna, Eftihia went on to pen a massive volume of timeless popular songs which was set to music by Tsitsanis, Kaldaras, Ηiotis, and Hadjidakis, amongst others. 

After Opening Night, the 2022 Greek Film Festival continues featuring 15 films, including internationally acclaimed movies, comedies, dramas, documentaries and the popular 2022 Student Film Festival.

Tickets for Opening Night are on sale via Palace Cinemas as of Monday 19 Sep from 9am with the full Melbourne program to be on sale Thursday 22 September. The 2022 Greek Film Festival is an event of the Greek Community of Melbourne and is presented by Bendigo Bank.
